About Your Chef,
Regis Johnson
From a young age, I found joy in the kitchen—watching my great-grandmother and grandmother work their magic with love and intuition. That early spark grew into a deep passion for food and hospitality, leading me to gain experience in fast food, restaurants, and even hotels.
This foundation led me to enrolling at the Culinary Institute of Virginia in 2010—one of the best decisions of my life. Over the years, I have gained experience from restaurant ownership, management, and collaborations. While learning from all of these experiences I knew I had a vision that was entirely my own.
In 2021, I began to bring that vision to life—first as Urban Gourmet, then growing into Urban Gourmet Experiences as my passion for cooking, people, and creating meaningful moments expanded.
Today, my mission is to elevate the Southern dishes I know and love, transforming them into unforgettable gourmet experiences. What sets me apart is my ability to truly listen, connect, and craft experiences that reflect the heart and desires of every client I serve.
I look forward to creating a unique and soulful experience for you very soon.
